The successful candidate will take ownership of a varied client portfolio, acting as a trusted advisor while overseeing the delivery of high-quality compliance and advisory services. Youll be instrumental in driving client satisfaction, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to the continued growth of the practice. This role offers a great blend of technical work, people management, and commercial responsibility ideal for someone who enjoys building lasting client relationships and making a tangible impact.
Your responsibilities as the Client Manager will include:
Manage a diverse portfolio of clients, acting as the primary point of contact for day-to-day queries and strategic advice.
Prepare and review statutory accounts in accordance with FRS 102 and other relevant standards.
Oversee and review VAT returns, management accounts, and corporation tax computations.
Liaise with HMRC on client matters including tax compliance and investigations.
Supervise and mentor junior team members, reviewing their work and supporting their development.
Ensure timely delivery of client work within budget and deadlines.
Identify opportunities to add value to client relationships, including advisory and planning services.
Assist with onboarding of new clients and contribute to business development initiatives.
Requirements
ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience in UK practice.
Proven experience managing a client portfolio in an accountancy firm setting.
Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, FRS 102, VAT, and corporation tax.
Proficiency in cloud accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
A proactive, client-focused approach to service delivery.
Desirable Skills
Experience with accounting software such as CCH, IRIS, or similar.
Exposure to clients in sectors such as property, retail, or professional services.
Experience in providing advisory services including tax planning, cashflow forecasting, or R&D claims.
