The Intestinal Failure Unit at Salford are recruiting a full-time band 3 health care assistant for a 12-month secondment. The intestinal failure unit is highly specialised and provides care and treatment to patients with complex nutritional needs who require life-sustaining treatment to survive. These patients often require a prolonged hospital stay.
Experience within stoma care is desired and there will be opportunities to train to perform venepuncture, cannulation, ECGs and clinical observations. It will be advantageous if you already have experience in these skills. Experience in healthcare is essential, and full experience will be given to speciality.
You must have completed the Care Certificate or be working towards this. A Level 3 NVQ or Apprenticeship qualification is preferred but not essential.
You will be required to perform a wide range of duties and clerical tasks including assistance with hygiene and mobility as well as venepuncture, cannulation, wound care, clinical observations, recording blood sugars and ECG recordings.
You will be required to be flexible - shifts patterns will consist of Early, Late, Long days and nights. Shifts will be predominantly days but may require some rotation on to nights.
Changes to the UK immigration policy introduced on the 9th April 2025, increased the minimum salary threshold for certificates of sponsorship applications for Health and Care Worker Visa from £23,200 (£11.90 per hour) to £25,000 (£12.82 per hour). As per Agenda for Change, if you are new to the NHS your starting salary would be £24,937 (minimum Band 3 salary point from 1st April 2025 in line with National Living Wage requirements). This salary point is below the new minimum threshold, and therefore not eligible for sponsorship.
