We are seeking a dedicated Deputy Health and Safety Manager to support the delivery of effective safety management within a leading physics department for a top university. This role involves working closely with the Department Health and Safety Manager to develop and implement safety policies, oversee statutory compliance and foster a strong safety culture across all activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with developing and maintaining health, safety, and environmental policies aligned with legal and university standards.
Oversee statutory compliance for equipment and research areas, ensuring remedial actions are completed promptly.
Coordinate safety audits, inspections, and assessments, providing feedback for continuous improvement.
Manage the administration of safety activities, including meetings, documentation, and safety inductions.You will need:
A strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation relevant to research-led environments.
NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent, with commitment to pursuing the NEBOSH Diploma
Excellent communication skills, with ability to liaise effectively with staff, students, and external contractors.
