This is an exciting opportunity to work with the Learnings Improvement Service (LIS) to support our expanding work on Elective Home Education. We are advertising this role to develop our capacity for the changes arising from the Children’s Well-beingand Schools Bill.
Elective Home Education (EHE) is when a parent chooses not to send their child to school full‑time but assumes responsibility for making sure their child receives a full‑time education other than at school. Some children are electively home educated from age 5 and may never attend school. In other cases, a child may be removed from their school’s roll for EHE.
This role is focused on supporting parents who home‑educate and to work in partnership to ensure children receive an education appropriate to their age, aptitude, ability and if applicable, their special educational needs. Many of our home educators receive good provision but as part of this role we also need to take action where provision is not taking place.
You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of colleagues within LIS and across Children’s Services. This role includes travelling and some lone working in line with the Westmorland and Furness policy.
