Our veterinarians have an average of 10 years of experience in critical care, general practice, wellness, and emergency care. We specialize in urgent care, from upset stomachs to minor surgical procedures, for non-emergent injuries and illnesses. Our multidisciplinary teams can handle most situations that come into our doors.

Veterinary Urgent Care Center's (VUCC) mission is to change veterinary medicine for the better, both for our patients and pet owners, and for the talented people who make this profession their life's work. Since 2017, VUCC has been a leader in the veterinary urgent care space in Massachusetts and is expanding into new communities in the Northeast.
VUCC is currently searching for Veterinary Assistants to work in our new locations in Saugus, Dedham, and East Providence, starting early 2023.
Full and part-time positions are available. Full-time Veterinarian Assistants work 40-hour weeks. Flexible start dates and positions can be arranged at our current Massachusetts locations (Quincy, Easton, Plymouth, pending new location openings). Job Responsibilities
1. Assist doctors and veterinary technicians with appointments, preparing patients for surgery and minor procedures, and set up equipment and tools for patients.
2. Collect and prepare laboratory samples such as fecal, urine, blood, and ear cytology.
3. Restrain animals safely, efficiently, and compassionately during examinations and procedures.
4. Obtain accurate vital signs on patients.
5. Document any changes in a pet’s condition and vital signs in medical records; notify the doctor or technicians of any unusual problems.
6. Maintain cleanliness of the hospital, including kennels, treatment areas, exam rooms, and surgery suite.
7. Care for and maintain all medical equipment, including laboratory machines, surgical packs, anesthesia machines, etc.
8. Communicate compassionately and professionally with clients regarding their pet’s status or questions.
9. Coordinate with team members professionally and compassionately.
10. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure smooth hospital operations.
Job Requirements
1. High School diploma or GED.
2. Flexible schedule, including some weekends and holidays.
3. Knowledge of medical procedures and animal handling.
4. Computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
5. Strong communication skills, good judgment, and ability to manage stressful situations.
6. Dependability, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
7. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
