Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Trauma and Orthopaedic Therapy Service for 33 hours per week, to provide Clinical Professional Leadership within the service. This role involves both clinical and operational responsibilities, deputising for the Team Lead as appropriate. The successful candidate will provide a high quality, evidence based therapy service to patients admitted to hospital on a trauma and/or orthopaedic pathway, including trauma, major trauma, elective surgery, fractured neck of femur and amputee patients. The post holder will provide highly specialist Occupational Therapist intervention for a caseload of Orthopaedic patients and offer advanced clinical reasoning within the specialism to support complex decision making. The successful candidate will be responsible for service development in line with current evidence based practice and have involvement in leading audit, education and training.

Responsibilities
Main duties of the job: To provide clinical leadership and direction to the Trauma and Orthopaedic Team. To carry own caseload and oversee caseloads of clinical staff to provide high level clinical decision making in line with current evidence based practice. The post holder will deputise for the Team Lead as necessary in managing the operations of the team.

Qualifications
Essential
* Degree in Occupational Therapy
* HCPC Registration
* MSc level or equivalent post-graduate qualification
* Leadership Qualification or Equivalent Experience
* Clinical Educator Qualification
* Evidence of Continued Professional Development
Knowledge and Skills
* Extensive post-graduate Orthopaedic Experience
* Experience in Leadership
* Experience of Service Development
* Involvement in Research and Audit
* Extensive acute healthcare experience
Skills and Abilities
* Ability to initiate evidence based practice within clinical area and demonstrates experience in developing local care pathways
* Teaching and Presentation Skills
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work closely with the MDT
