Job Title: Fabrication and Welding Engineer – Weekend Shift
Location: Herefordshire
Hours: Friday to Sunday, 05:45 – 18:15
Salary: £39,571.48 – £43,046 per year (depending on experience) plus weekly production bonus and overtime opportunities
About the Role
A skilled Fabrication and Welding Engineer is required to support engineering operations on the weekend shift within a busy production environment. This hands-on role involves fabrication, welding, and mechanical maintenance to maintain plant reliability and ensure smooth running of production. The position offers the opportunity to work with advanced machinery in a modern facility with continued investment in people and technology.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out fabrication, welding, and repair work to maintain and improve machinery and infrastructure
* Respond to breakdowns requiring welded or fabricated solutions to minimise downtime
* Work with a range of welding processes including MIG, MAG, and MMA on different materials
* Manufacture and modify components, guards, brackets, and machine parts to support plant reliability
* Undertake general mechanical maintenance tasks when required, including hydraulics and pneumatics
* Ensure all fabrication and welding work is carried out to high standards of quality and safety
* Maintain accurate records of fabrication, welding, and maintenance tasks
Candidate Requirements
* Proven background in fabrication and welding within an industrial or manufacturing environment
* Skilled in welding techniques including MIG, MAG, and MMA with the ability to deliver strong and accurate finishes
* Experience with general mechanical maintenance such as hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, and fault-finding
* Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
* Completion of a recognised Mechanical or Fabrication/Welding Apprenticeship (or equivalent qualification)
* Self-motivated and able to work independently during weekend shifts
* Strong safety awareness, teamwork, and communication skills
