We are looking for an experienced Senior Front End Developer (Band 8a) to join our Clinical Application Development team within Digital Services. Our team designs and delivers innovative, secure and scalable software that directly supports clinical services across the Trust. As a senior member of the team, you will play a key role in designing modern, user-focused front‑end applications using contemporary JavaScript frameworks and cloud‑based services. You will contribute to our digital clinical strategy by shaping product direction, mentoring developers, and driving continuous improvement in our engineering practices. You will work within a cross‑functional agile team, collaborating closely with clinical stakeholders, business analysts and backend developers to deliver high‑quality digital solutions that make a real impact on patient care.

Responsibilities
* Develop high‑quality front‑end applications using React and associated tooling.
* Lead technical delivery within agile teams, shaping solutions, guiding technical decisions and ensuring robust engineering standards.
* Work collaboratively with clinicians and operational teams to translate complex requirements into intuitive digital solutions.
* Mentor and support other developers through coaching, pair‑programming and knowledge sharing.
* Maintain and enhance CI/CD pipelines and support deployment processes in Azure.
* Undertake detailed analysis of complex technical and business problems, proposing innovative and cost‑effective solutions.
* Ensure compliance with Trust standards, legislative requirements, information governance, and software development best practice.
* Support the Head of Development with long‑term planning, roadmap development and strategic technical decisions.
* Take responsibility for accurate estimation of work, planning of development activities and managing your workload effectively in a dynamic environment.
* Act as Scrum Master when required, ensuring continuous delivery and adherence to agile processes.
Required Qualifications
* Expert knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
* Experience developing front‑end applications using modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Vue, Svelte or Angular.
* Writing unit tests with modern front‑end testing frameworks such as Jest.
* Experience consuming and modifying CI/CD pipelines.
* Experience working with APIs of varying types and integrating with backend data.
* Experience working with cloud technologies (Azure or AWS).
* Capable of teaching, mentoring and pair‑programming with other members of the team.
Desirable Qualifications
* Experience working in a Continuous Delivery or Deployment environment.
* Experience developing backend API frameworks.
