Ayr Housing Aid Centre are a registered Charity established in 1986 (now SCIO) accredited to provide Type I, II & III Free, Independent Housing Information, Advice, Advocacy plus Care Inspectorate regulated Tenure Sustainment Services. We work with vulnerable service users with our main aim to alleviate poverty and delay/prevent homeless where possible while encouraging and empowering rights and responsibilities. This particular post covers East and South Ayrshire areas in particular those in poverty or threatened with homelessness.

As part of the AHAC Housing Advice Staff team you will provide a Type II accredited advice and casework service across East and South Ayrshire areas. This post will work across all AHAC existing services across all funders, working in partnership with partner agencies to secure positive outcomes. As a frontline worker you will become part of the existing Advice Team assisting providing duty rota, opening cases, meeting with Service Users to establish need and prepare a case plan to work through together. In partnership with the service user you will together formulate a course of action including referrals to internal and external partner agencies to deliver the best positive outcomes including housing support and specialist type III Adviser and Representation. Through collaboration each party will understand the possible outcomes through engagement.

You will encourage, enable and empower people through income maximisation and alleviation of poverty to have the headspace to take action improve their situation including prevention and delaying of homelessness and improving relationships. Ensure compliance with Scottish National Standards for Housing Information and Advice. Carry out Case Reviews and assist in staff training to ensure up to date resources and knowledge. Be able to travel efficiently and effectively within South and East Ayrshire areas to meet the needs of the services including providing outreach and community sessions as and when required, TOIL is available for out of hours including several weekend events.
