Specialist Healthcare Passenger Assistant North West London | £20.00 per hour | Term-Time Only | Split Shifts We are currently recruiting Specialist Healthcare Passenger Assistants on behalf of a leading local authority transport service in North West London. This vital service supports children, young people, and vulnerable adults with complex health and behavioural needs on their daily journeys to and from school or care settings. If you’re experienced in healthcare, education, or support work and have the training to deliver specialist care in transit, we’d love to hear from you. The Role As a Specialist Healthcare Passenger Assistant, you’ll travel on pre-assigned routes with a professional driver and occasionally a general Passenger Assistant. Your role will be to provide clinical support, behavioural management, and emergency medical care where needed during transit. You’ll work split shifts – typically in the morning and afternoon – and play a key part in ensuring each service user travels safely, comfortably, and with dignity. Key Details Location: North West London (across boroughs) Hours: Term-time only, split shifts (AM and PM) Rate of Pay: £20.00 per hour (weekly pay via umbrella) Start Date: ASAP (subject to compliance) Duties & Responsibilities Administer emergency medication and provide clinical support as required Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour using approved techniques Support passengers with epilepsy, physical disabilities, and complex communication needs Follow care plans and risk assessments to ensure a safe travel environment Document incidents and medication administration accurately Work closely with drivers, schools, parents/carers, and internal safeguarding teams You Must Have: Enhanced DBS (Children & Adults Workforce) – on the Update Service or willing to apply Valid PMVA or Breakaway training (in-date) First Aid & Anaphylaxis certification Manual Handling, Safeguarding, and Disability Awareness training Experience supporting vulnerable children/young people or adults with complex needs Desirable but Not Essential: BSL (British Sign Language) – Level 1 or above Previous experience in special needs education, SEN transport, or residential care settings The Right Fit This role is ideal for a calm, caring, and resilient professional who thrives in challenging environments.
