About the role
Role Purpose:
1. Accountable to the Project Commercial Manager (PCM), the role is to assist the Cost Manager in the commercial and cost management of a project or programme of projects from inception through to close out.
2. To be the commercial conscious to the integrated delivery team, providing commercial support to both the delivery management and on-site delivery teams.
3. Responsibility to ensure that operations are carried out to control costs, maximising value, minimising future liabilities and maintaining the required standard of quality and safety
4. Working as part of an integrated delivery team providing commercial challenge and recommending actions to achieve and create an environment of out performance.
What you'll be doing
As our Quantity Surveyor, you'll have the following accountabilities;
5. Assist the programme area estimating team to ensure robust estimates are provided that align to scope and make allowance for risks and opportunities including any necessary analysis, transfer of data to Alliance Procurement system and Cost Base. Ensure there is 360 feedback and learning from actual costs updating the Estimators accordingly.
6. Assist the Cost Manager in preparing Subcontracts and ensuring they reflect agreed scope. Ensure Subcontracts are properly managed in accordance with contract requirements
7. Work closely with the site team, attending site regularly to ensure they are aware of and can manage the allowances and outputs, provide robust challenge to achieve outperformance, communicate change control and escalate when necessary.
8. Assist the Cost Manager to produce accurate live forecasting, taking into account the programme and reporting in accordance with the respective work breakdown structure / cost breakdown structure.
9. Actual costs are monitored and assessed against baseline, value of work done, solution cost progress, affordability challenges and final outturn calculations, reporting either weekly or otherwise as agreed with the Cost Manager/PCM whilst observing Alliance governance.
10. Assist the Cost Manager in ensuring all efficiencies are reflected in the reporting tools provided, to the Clients timeline.
11. Provide reports on actual costs vs. estimate & identifying underlying reasons for any variance & resolutions, in particular highlight, challenge & resolve variance to latest plans.
12. Work with the integrated delivery team to assist with project and programme risk mitigation plans are considered, put in place and administered.
13. Assist the Cost Manager in ensuring that the Alliance Contract is properly administered including timely issue of early warnings, Contractual notices etc.
Any other duties as designated by the Cost Manager, PCM or Commercial Manager (CM).
14. Ensuring that proper records are kept & maintained so financial information for audits and cost assurance is readily available.
15. Assist the Cost Manager in producing Final Accounts.

16. Degree level (or equivalent) in an engineering/ management/ cost discipline.
17. CSCS Card
18. Extensive IT knowledge (particularly MS Excel)

22. Positive attitude and ability to integrate into teams
