Start: ASAP - End: 30 November 2025Hours: 9:00am - 5:00pm, Monday to Friday Hybrid working Rate: £55 - £65 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide expert legal advice on the statutory responsibilities of local authorities under homelessness legislation.
* Respond to and manage legal challenges from applicants, legal representatives, and advocacy groups regarding housing decisions.
* Support and advise Team Leaders and Duty Managers, particularly on complex or escalated cases.
* Draft formal responses and correspondence (both electronic and paper-based) related to legal queries and appeals.
* Engage professionally with applicants, advocates, and legal representatives via telephone and written communication.
* Apply in-depth knowledge of relevant case law, statutory provisions, and regulatory guidance to day-to-day legal decision-making.
Requirements:
* Qualified solicitor or barrister with current practising certificate (England & Wales).
* 2-3 years' experience working specifically on homelessness applications and related legal matters.
* Demonstrable experience in public sector housing law and litigation (preferably within a local authority setting).
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload efficiently.
