DVC Day Care Services aims to provide high quality care and support to service users in a welcoming, safe, stimulating and inclusive environment to help maintain and improve social life skills and activities of daily living to facilitate independence and enable the individual play a fuller part in their community. Day care facilities are provided for elderly adults 3 days a week on Monday, Tuesday and Friday.As a day care worker, you will assist with the day-to-day care needs of our service users. You will be required to help with all aspects of personal care, where necessary, to ensure their needs are met, respecting their privacy and dignity. You will assist the team in providing the highest possible standards of support and care.
Responsibilities
* Provide a high standard of care as directed by the Day Care Manager
* Assist with the creation of a safe and caring environment
* Assisting service users with personal care such as washing, showering, toileting and personal hygiene, as required
* Assist with meal preparation and distribution
* Helping with service users’ mobility, using appropriate equipment and procedures were needed
* Promote and take part in social and recreational activities
* Maintain a safe environment by adhering to appropriate health and safety and fire procedures
* Treat all matters relating to the day care services with strict confidentiality
* Keep appropriate records as directed by senior staff
* Interact with service users, reassuring them, socialising with them
* Work as a member of a caring team
* Tidying the communal areas
* Assist with the implementation of all Covid related procedures with a view to keeping service users safe
* Collaborate with staff and other health professionals who attend the centre
* Record and pass on observations (e.g., weight, food and fluid intake), as well as monitoring the service users’ health and well-being, reporting any change in condition
* Report all accidents/incidents and record as directed by the Day Care Manager
* Assist with gathering satisfaction survey information from service users, family members and the WHSCT
* Maintain registration with appropriate regulatory bodies
* Participate in staff meetings
* Attend and participate in appropriate training and staff developments sessions
* Maintain records in line with all relevant legislation including the data protection legislation
* Adhere to all relevant policies
* Participate in quarterly supervision meetings as well as annual appraisal with Day Care Manager
* All duties must be carried out in compliance with Health and Safety Policy and statutory regulations
* Any other duties as directed by the Day Care Manager or his/her nominee

Skills and Qualifications
* Three to six months experience in a Healthcare setting
* To be NISCC registered or willing to apply
* Willingness to undergo an enhanced Access NI check
* Willingness to complete all mandatory training
* Proficiency in undertaking communication and writing in English to a level required by the post
* Ability to work on own initiative
* Work as member of caring team and demonstrate core values
* Good interpersonal skills
* Comfortable with provision of personal care
Further Information
This post is for one day only on a Monday however the day centre operates three days a week.
