About the role
As our Publisher Yield and Programmatic Lead, you will be instrumental in shaping the monetisation strategy for Deliveroo Advertising. You will lead yield operations and optimisation to drive improvements in price realisation and revenue quality across on-platform and off-platform retail media. You will work with Commercial Strategy and Commercial Operations to translate pricing guidance into yield configurations and evidence-based decisions, protecting the consumer experience. You will collaborate with Product, Data Science, and Media Operations to design practical, easy-to-understand rules. The role is hands-on, highly numerical and strategic, with mentorship responsibilities for the Media Operations team and other specialists.
What you'll be doing
1. Develop & Execute Yield Strategy & Pricing Governance: Lead rate optimisation within yield operations; propose floors, caps, discount guardrails, and sponsorship packages by placement and season within the monetisation policy.
2. Align with Commercial Strategy: Coordinate rate envelopes and discount governance; secure approvals and create detailed internal build sheets for Media Operations execution. External pricing guidance is owned by Commercial Strategy.
3. Surface mix targets & seasonal rate guidance: Define targets across sponsored search, category/home placements, menu, basket, and order tracker; balance demand with supply while protecting the consumer experience.
1. Own & Drive Yield Analytics and Forecasting: Own key price realisation views, sell-through, fill curves, bid density, and revenue quality metrics; develop forward-looking views in partnership with Finance and Data Science.
1. Lead & Implement Programmatic Demand & Supply Path Management: Develop deal strategies for Programmatic Guaranteed, Preferred Deals, and Private Marketplaces; own line item architecture and demand routing with Product and ad server team to ensure simple rules and reliable delivery.
2. Policy & Transparency: Maintain ads.txt, app-ads.txt, and sellers.json adherence; safeguard supply path integrity and ensure external connections meet policy and security standards.
1. Define & Enforce Inventory Policy & Strategic Enablement: Collaborate to define inventory taxonomy, eligibility rules, and sponsorship constraints; create build sheets and feasibility notes to enable accurate and efficient execution by Media Operations.
1. Cross-functional Strategic Partnerships: Collaborate with Product & Data Science to co-design eligibility, ranking, and pricing signals; validate hypotheses with experiments; translate model behaviour into clear business insights; partner with Commercial Strategy on core rate strategy and packaging principles.
1. Operating Cadence & Governance: Lead weekly yield & rate clinics and monthly sponsorship/surface reviews; maintain visible decision records and escalate policy or guardrail issues to the Director as needed.
Requirements
* Extensive senior-level experience in yield and programmatic operations within a leading publisher, platform, or retail media network, with hands-on contribution.
* Deep expertise in auction dynamics, rate strategy, sponsorship design, and all programmatic deal types (Programmatic Guaranteed, Preferred Deals, Private Marketplaces).
* Direct experience with ad server configuration, complex deal setup, and revenue quality controls.
* Proven ability to extract actionable insights from yield analytics (price realisation, sell-through, fill, pacing, bid density) and tell a clear story from data.
* Comprehensive understanding of identity, privacy, and consent requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and implications for packaging and routes to demand.
* Strong familiarity with supply chain transparency standards (ads.txt, app-ads.txt, sellers.json).
* Exceptional communication skills; ability to simplify complex rules and teach sophisticated ideas to diverse teams.
* Collaborative, consumer-first mindset with calm judgment; willingness to build, test, and iterate solutions end-to-end.
