Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland. Howâs this for job satisfaction: at Scottish Water we look after Scotland's most precious natural resource. From source to tap, we are guarding Scotlandâs reputation for refreshingly pure water, and caring for our environment at the same time.  Want to join us? We are looking for a Multifunctional Water Operative covering Mull and Iona.  Youâll be on the front lines of making sure Scotlandâs water is totally, dependably pure.  What youâll do  Youâll join an experienced team that really knows its water & waste, helping to monitor and maintain the quality of water at our treatment works and pumping stations. As a multifunctional Water Operative youâll also be supporting our communities by looking after our network infrastructure â all while keeping the public safe and informed.  Youâll also handle risk assessments and keep a close eye on health and safety protocols. As part of the team, youâll take your turn on the standby 1:5 rota for out-of-hours cover.  What youâll bring  Youâll spend a fair amount of time working alone, so youâll need to be self-motivated, but still eager to contribute to your teamâs goals.  Basic IT skills are a must, as youâll be using digital equipment and apps throughout the day. Youâll need report writing skills too â nothing fancy, but enough to get your point across clearly, quickly, and accurately.  A full, driving licence is non-negotiable, as youâll need to travel around Mull and Iona. Looking out for you  While the work we do is important, we know itâs not the only thing that matters. Thatâs why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance.  Youâll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). And you can even buy five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take paid time off to volunteer in your community.  When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working.  For your future, thereâs our pension (the âknow-what-youâll-get-when-you-retireâ kind), as well as life assurance.  The not-so-small print   This role will be a Grade 4. If youâre new to Scottish Water, youâll join us on a starting salary of £ 30,440. Performance-driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of £ 35,260 .  Job offers at Scottish Water are conditional, and will be confirmed on completion of our pre-employment screening, e.g. referencing, criminal record checks, license checks, etc. These checks are conducted on our behalf by a third party. Donât worry - weâll ask your permission before starting these checks.  If youâre interested in this role â or know someone else who might be - weâll be accepting applications until the 3rd February 2026 at midnight. A few final things worth knowing⦠ Research shows that some people avoid applying for jobs unless they can meet every single criteria. If youâre interested in this job, but donât tick all the boxes, apply anyway! We hardly ever hire people who can do every part of a job from Day One. Everyone has a learning curve. So donât rule yourself out!  Let us know if there are any changes we can make to our recruitment process to help you perform at your best. Lots of our people have disabilities or neurodiverse conditions (including some of our recruiters!). We're also aware that some people might be experiencing temporary challenges because of life events, like menopause. Weâre very used to making adjustments, so please donât be afraid to ask.  As part of our commitment to developing a flourishing Scotland, itâs important that all our employees are Scottish taxpayers. If you join us, your home address will need to be in Scotland. If you donât already live here, you'll need to commit to moving here within your first three months. Please note, Scottish Water takes the safety, health and wellbeing of our employees, colleagues and customers very seriously and as such you may be subject to Drug & Alcohol testing in line with our policy. Finally (finally!), candidates who havenât submitted an application in the last 12 months will have their records removed from our recruitment database. You wonât need to do anything. Your data will be automatically deleted. Weâre here to help. Ask us anything a t SWRecruitment@ScottishWater.co.uk Â
