We're working with a specialist educational setting in Sunderland that is looking to recruit a BSL Learning Support Assistant for a full-time role starting in September. The setting provides tailored support to pupils with hearing impairments and communication needs, helping them achieve both academically and personally within a supportive school environment. We're looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual who can use their BSL skills to make a lasting impact on pupils' educational experiences. What you'll be doing • Providing classroom support through British Sign Language • Supporting pupils with communication, learning and social interaction • Working on a 1:1 basis and with small groups of pupils • Encouraging participation and engagement in lessons • Supporting emotional wellbeing and confidence-building activities • Collaborating with teachers and support staff to meet pupil needs What we're looking for • BSL qualification or significant practical signing experience • Strong communication and relationship-building skills • Experience within education, care or support settings is desirable • A patient, resilient and supportive approach • A genuine commitment to helping young people succeed • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) What you can expect from Protocol • Weekly PAYE pay • Full-time role commencing in September • Ongoing support from a consultant who genuinely cares • Free CPD and online training opportunities All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
