The role
As a Programme Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. you’ll take ownership of high-impact projects that support the Royal Navy’s submarine maintenance and infrastructure development. You’ll lead cross-functional teams, manage stakeholder relationships, and ensure the successful delivery of complex programmes that directly contribute to national defence.
Day-to-day, you’ll be accountable for performance and results across multiple workstreams. You’ll have the opportunity to influence strategic outcomes, develop your leadership capabilities, and make a meaningful impact on the future of defence engineering.
1. Building integrated project delivery teams to define, plan, monitor and control successful outcomes
2. Managing customer, stakeholder and delivery partner interfaces
3. Establishing and maintaining governance arrangements for the project
4. Leading resource forecasting, financial planning, subcontractor management and team development
5. Actively managing risks, assumptions, issues, opportunities and dependencies
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard
Essential experience of the Programme Manager
6. Proven experience in project management, leading complex programmes in similar sectors
7. Full project lifecycle experience
8. Exposure to varied products, services and lifecycle phases
9. Awareness of contracting methodologies (e.g. NEC/JCT)
10. Cross-functional understanding of lifecycle requirements
Qualifications for the Programme Manager
11. Degree in Engineering, Construction or Project Management
12. APM Project Management Qualification (APM PMQ) or equivalent
13. SMSTS Qualification, NEC/JCT Qualification - Desirable
