Position Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated trainee Pharmacy Technician to undertake a 2‑year Technical Apprenticeship programme. The role will enable you to work towards the Diploma in Pharmacy Services, completing the PDA in Pharmacy Services (SCQF 7) and SVQ in Pharmacy Services (SCQF 8) while developing your knowledge and skills within our pharmacy team.
The position will be based mainly in Primary Care within the Pharmacotherapy Hub at The Old School Building, Scottish Borders Council HQ, with remoting into GP practices. It focuses on supporting safe, effective, and efficient medicines management in primary care, with some elements of the course required to be completed in either a community or hospital pharmacy dispensary.
Responsibilities
* Support safe, effective, and efficient medicines management in primary care settings.
* Assist in the preparation and dispensing of medication under the supervision of senior staff.
* Participate in pharmacy team activities and training sessions.
Qualifications & Eligibility
* National 5 qualifications at Grade A to C (or equivalent SCQF Level) in Chemistry, Biology, and other relevant subjects.
* Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
* Ability to commit to a 2‑year apprenticeship programme.
Compensation
* Up to 12 months prior to completion of training: 75% of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate.
* More than 1 but less than 2 years prior to completion: 70% of the pay band maximum of the qualified rate.
* More than 2 but less than 3 years prior to completion: 65% of the pay band maximum for the qualified rate.
* More than 3 years from completion of training: 60% of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate.
