Receptionist / Clerical Officer

The closing date is 31 July 2025

The administration team is currently looking to recruit an administrator to work 15 hours per week. The role includes dealing with a range of telephone queries, arranging appointments, downloading referrals, post, managing patient and hospital correspondence, data inputting and problem solving whilst covering the reception. In addition to dealing with patients a key part of this role is to provide administrative support to the clinical team to enable them to run their clinics effectively.

You will need to be highly organized with excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to delivering a customer focused service. This is a very busy department and you will be required to effectively manage multiple and diverse work streams.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for the covering of reception dealing with telephone queries and patient's face to face, downloading ERS Referrals, making appointments, printing letters, giving hearing batteries out to patients.

You will also be responsible for booking and rebooking appointments.

Person Specification


Knowledge, Skills and Training

* NVQ level 2 or equivalent in office procedures
* RSA level 2 or equivalent IT skills
* English language qualification at CSE level or equivalent
* IT skills - Microsoft office functions
* Ability to prioritise effectively
* Ability to use own initiative within sphere of responsibility
* Recent experience of working in a comparable role
* Recent experience of working in a customer-focused role
* Use of Clinical patient record systems
* Flexibility.
* Able to perform under pressure.


Additional Requirements

* Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English, adequate to enable the post holder to carry out the role effectively.


Knowledge, Skills and Training

* Good communication skills, both written and verbal
