Role
We are seeking a Manager to lead our Economic Crime Unit (ECU), part of the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The successful candidate will lead a specialist team dedicated to removing the financial benefit from criminals.
Responsibilities
* Lead the ECU as the strategic lead for managing financial investigations and ensure compliance with the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
* Provide strong leadership to two Team Leaders (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigation Team) and a Senior Financial Intelligence Officer; manage performance and delivery.
* Collaborate with internal teams (Investigatory Teams, Intelligence & Partnerships, Legal) and external partners (Police, National Crime Agency, HMRC); influence senior stakeholders to align with Environment Agency priorities.
* Support the wider organisation in improving processes and understanding POCA; share lessons learned and contribute to technical documentation; advise enforcement officers nationwide.
* Oversee two teams comprised of Financial Investigators, Financial Intelligence Officers and Crime Analysts; work as part of a nationally dispersed unit dealing with serious, complex criminality involving organised crime networks.
Experience / skills
* Exceptional leadership skills, ideally with experience in leading a dispersed team; good understanding of financial investigations and POCA.
* Experience in: working in the law enforcement sector with understanding of the National Intelligence Model; effective communication including feedback, performance management and stakeholder relations; working under pressure and prioritising a varied workload; identifying improvements and leading changes to working practices; developing and enhancing the capability of a team and individuals.
