Overview

Join to apply for the P6 Project Planner role at AWE.

Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke. AWE operates a 9‑day working fortnight and will consider flexible working requests. Up to one day on site. A typical day could look like this is described in responsibilities.

Package: £41,000 to £50,000 dependant on experience.

Important: You may be required to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role. This will be funded by AWE. You must be a British citizen resident in the UK for the past 5 years (SC) and 10 years for DV.


Responsibilities

* Maintaining a number of P6 plans
* Supporting month end schedule health checks as required
* Maintaining and improving schedule quality
* Engaging with project stakeholders
* Supporting schedule updates in line with the business rhythm
* Creating scenario plans and preparing for change control
* Producing reporting for project teams and senior leaders
* Challenging logic – understanding how activities connect to each other
* Driving efficiencies
* Creation of the Work Breakdown Structure, resource loading, project level IMS, and project-specific basis of scheduling documents
* Input into the month-end process including updating schedule progress, forecast updates, milestone status, critical path analysis and EV variance analysis
* Providing planning input to investment approval and change control, risk and opportunity processes, and peer reviews
* Production of planning and EV deliverables in accordance with procedures and guidelines
* Proposing solutions and workarounds to address schedule performance issues
* Ensuring understanding of responsibilities and adherence to environmental, health, safety, security, quality and ethics standards


Qualifications

* Proficient with Primavera P6 or similar
* Experience interfacing with contractors; knowledge of NEC4 or standard form of contract is preferable
* Planning and controls training (APMG project planning and control) or extensive controls experience
* APMG industry-standard qualification
* At least one year working as a planner on a large-scale project


You will be responsible for

* Input into month-end processes, schedule progress, scheduling forecasting, milestone status, critical path analysis, and schedule performance review including EV analysis
* Planning inputs to investment approval, change control, risk and opportunity processes, and peer reviews
* Production of planning and EV deliverables in accordance with procedures
* Proposing solutions to schedule performance issues
* Adhering to company environmental, health, safety, security, quality and ethics standards


Candidate characteristics

* Development, integration, and analysis of project plans
* Experience with best practice planning processes and tools
* Understanding of confidence modelling processes and techniques
* Strong interpersonal skills for effective working relationships
* Excellent analytical skills with ability to read charts and spreadsheets
* Ability to manage priorities and work to challenging timescales
* Ability to deliver objectives on time and to high quality with minimal supervision
