Engineering Manager

Role Purpose
Ensuring that the Maritime Ranges sites and facilities are safe, fit for use and available.
Key Accountabilities
* Setting out and monitoring the competency/development programme for 15 Maritime Ranges range technicians.
* Delivery management of the Maritime Ranges Engineering leads – 5 personnel.
* Ensuring all Maritime Ranges facilities are managed in accordance with their Through Life Support Strategy (TLSS) and maintenance schedule by competent staff, and that all defects are managed to conclusion.
* Providing key input to investment projects delivering into Maritime Ranges, acting to influence and accept at each stage.
* Leading the replacement of equipment for obsolescence while innovating to deliver efficiency and enhancement.
* Inputting to and driving forward Maritime Ranges strategy.
Key Capabilities / Knowledge
* Communication skills utilising a variety of methods appropriate to the audience and situation.
* Collaborative team working.
* Strong engineering and technical knowledge.
* Good understanding of health, safety, environmental and quality arrangements.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulation, standards and guidance.
* Ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with people at all levels, both internal and external.
* Methodical and logical approach.
* Good level of IT competence.
Experience & Qualifications
* General engineering and operations background: Technical/engineering background is essential.
* Demonstrable track record of successful engineering management.
* Chartered Engineer (or equivalent) is desirable.
* NEBOSH / IOSH Managing Safely is desirable.
* Experience of process/continuous improvement activities.
