Rate of Pay: £27.00 - £34.70 per hour
Summary:
The Assistant HR Business Partner will provide HR support and guidance to managers and staff, working closely with the HR Operations team. This role will build effective working relationships with senior managers, advise on HR policies and employment law, and contribute to creating a positive, people-focused culture across the Council.
Responsibilities:
* Provide clear advice on HR policies, terms and conditions, and employment law.
* Support, coach, and challenge managers on casework (disciplinary, grievance, performance, attendance).
* Liaise with trade union representatives on employee matters.
* Screen vacancies and support redeployment processes.
* Undertake job evaluations, ensuring fairness and consistency.
* Provide insight through people data (e.g. sickness, grievance reporting).
Requirements:
* CIPD qualified (or working towards), with HR experience in a complex organisation.
* Strong knowledge of employment law and employee relations.
* Significant casework management experience.
* Ability to influence and advise senior managers.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Customer-focused approach and ability to build positive relationships.
Essentials:
* Minimum 2-3 years HR experience.
* Able to attend Council premises weekly and meetings on-site when required.
* Positive, resilient, and collaborative approach.
