Job Description

Are you a passionate mental health professional seeking a dynamic and rewarding career? We are seeking an energetic and motivated individual to join our established Dartford Home Treatment team and Rapid Response Service in North Kent. This is an exciting time to join our team as recent investments and changes to the community mental health framework are creating more opportunities for dedicated work within the CRHTT service.

In this role, you will:

* Provide 24/7 assessment and treatment to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis in the community.
* Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver effective interventions.
* Develop your intervention and assessment skills through ongoing support, supervision, and training opportunities.

We are looking for someone who:

* Is a registered mental health Nurse with relevant experience.

* Is motivated, energetic, and innovative with a desire to develop their skills.


Main duties of the job

In this role, you will play a vital role in assessing patients\' mental health needs, determining appropriate support levels, and ensuring their well-being within a legal framework.

What you\'ll do:

* Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments to identify needs and risks.
* Manage potential risks associated with patients\' conditions.
* Assess patients\' capacity to consent to treatment options.
* Ensure all actions adhere to relevant mental health legislation and regulations.
* Work collaboratively with service users, staff, and relatives to identify goals and determine and deliver an appropriate intervention plan which aims to maximise engagement and performance whilst balancing risk, and promoting choice and independence.
* Engage in short term psychosocial interventions appropriate to need and risks.
* Participate in physical intervention training, if required, to support team safety.

* Is competent in community-based mental health care.

* Has effective organisational /planning and decision-making skills to manage workloads and competing demands.
* Demonstrates clear communication skills and effective leadership skills.
* Is flexible and able to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

High Cost Area Allowance

The High-Cost Area (HCA) allowance, also referred to as London Weighting, is a payment to employees who work in London and surrounding areas. This post is based in Dartford, Gravesham or Swanley; the successful applicant will receive an additional payment each month. 5% of basic salary, subject to a minimum of £1,192 per year and a maximum of £2,011 per year (divided into 12 equal monthly amounts). The salary listed is inclusive of the High-Cost Area Allowance.

Post holder must hold a full, valid UK driving licence and have access to a car/vehicle to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).


Qualifications & Experience

Essential criteria

* NMC Professional qualification
* Experience in a qualified mental health nursing role
* Experience working in mental health service
* Experience prioritising casework and allocation / delegation of tasks
* Experience liaising with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
* Ability to work a 24-hour shift pattern including day, night and weekend shifts

Desirable criteria

* Additional relevant training/qualification
* Practice Assessor qualification
* Understanding of community mental health role
* Leadership skills; ability to motivate and enable others

Knowledge & skills

* Understanding of impact of mental health crisis on lifestyle and function
* Professionalism in challenging situations
* Ability to work autonomously and in interprofessional teams
* Proficiency in assessment of mental health presentations including MSE and formulation
