This hands-on role focuses on energy and carbon modelling, low-carbon design delivery, and practical, project-focused sustainability solutions across commercial, healthcare, education, and defence sectors.
The Sustainability Consultant will play a key role in integrating sustainable strategies into M&E and architectural designs, advising project teams, and supporting compliance with UK regulations and low-carbon frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct dynamic simulation and thermal modelling using tools such as IES VE, DesignBuilder, or TAS
2. Develop and implement carbon reduction strategies across mechanical, electrical, and architectural interfaces
3. Support compliance reporting, including EPCs, Part L, TM54, BREEAM, and other relevant frameworks
4. Advise on low-carbon technologies, including heat pumps, CHP, PV, and district energy systems
5. Collaborate with M&E teams to integrate sustainability strategies into coordinated BIM/Revit workflows
6. Conduct occasional site visits to support commissioning, surveys, and performance reviews
7. Present energy and carbon modelling results clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
8. Mentor and guide junior team members on sustainability and low-carbon best practices
Candidate Profile
9. Hands-on technical expertise in sustainability, building services, or environmental engineering
10. Proven experience with energy modelling tools (IES VE, DesignBuilder, TAS, or Excel-based calculations)
11. Knowledge of UK sustainability regulations and low-carbon frameworks
12. Strong communicator, able to work effectively with engineers, architects, clients, and contractors
13. Comfortable balancing office-based analysis with site engagement
14. BIM/Revit experience or willingness to develop these skills
15. Professional accreditations (LCEA, CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant) desirable
