Bilfinger UK is currently recruiting Electrical Technicians on a fixed-term contract, on a 2/3 rota, mobilizing from Aberdeen.
As a site Competent Electrical Technician, your responsibilities will include:
1. Working within CNRI Electrical Safety Rules (SHE-PRO-348-ISSOW) and related procedures within your competency level.
2. Installing, maintaining, testing, diagnosing faults, and disassembling a wide range of electrical plant and components, adhering to health, safety, and environmental regulations, considering environmental and sustainability factors.
3. Understanding legislative, regulatory, and safe working practices, including reporting responsibilities.
4. Preparing and reinstating work areas, materials, and equipment, understanding the consequences of incorrect actions.
5. Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, quality standards, and manuals; following work instructions, plans, and schedules.
6. Carrying out inspection and maintenance on HV/LV equipment according to site ESRs and competency levels.
7. Maintaining and reporting on the condition of electrical systems such as fault protection, emergency power supplies, lighting, and navigational aids.
8. Reporting concerns or defects to the Responsible Electrical Person (REP), especially those affecting spark potential barrier integrity.
9. Monitoring electrical generation and distribution systems for performance and serviceability.
10. Interpreting electrical drawings and diagrams during inspections and fault finding.
11. Maintaining detailed shift logs and updating CMMS work orders appropriately.
12. Ensuring the condition of electrical supplies, including temporary and uninterruptible power supplies, for safety and critical systems.
13. Performing electrical isolation/de-isolation within your competency and following ESR procedures.
14. Ensuring Permit to Work systems are in place before starting work and cleared afterward.
15. Maintaining electrical equipment in hazardous areas per IEC 60079 standards.
16. Selecting appropriate tools and following safety, quality, and training procedures.
17. Training and mentoring apprentices and trainees to develop their skills.
Key Skills / Qualifications / Competencies:
* Mandatory offshore certifications (BOSIET, MIST, Medical, etc.)
* HNC or equivalent education
* Completion of a recognized electrical apprenticeship
* Authorised as a Competent Electrician within Electrical Safety Rules by the installation REP
* EN60079 CompEx Hazardous Areas certification
* Portable Appliance Testing certification
* Permit to Work (e.g., ISSOW)
* Experience with Maximo software
