We are currently seeking a commercially minded Management Accountant to join our well reputed Manufacturing client in Mid Kent. This role will play a key part in delivering accurate financial reporting and actionable insights to support operational and strategic decision‑making.
Description
Management Accountant responsibilities include;
* Prepare monthly management accounts with variance analysis against budget and prior periods
* Support month‑end close activities including accruals, prepayments, and journals
* Reconcile balance sheet accounts, ensuring data integrity (particularly stock and sales)
* Produce departmental reports and key performance indicators
* Analyse production costs (labour, materials, overheads) using ERP/BI tools
* Monitor standard vs actual costs and investigate variances
* Track cost per hour across production areas
* Manage WIP and inventory valuation processes
* Support standard costing reviews and improvements
* Assist in annual budgeting and rolling forecasts
* Provide financial modelling and scenario analysis
* Work closely with operational managers to track performance
* Partner with operational teams to improve financial performance
* Provide insight into product, customer, and service profitability
* Challenge cost drivers and identify efficiency opportunities
* Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards
* Support audits and statutory reporting requirements
* Assist with government returns
* Utilise ERP systems (e.g. SAP S/4HANA) to extract and analyse data
* Drive improvements and automation in reporting processes
* Support continuous improvement initiatives across finance and operations
Profile
A successful Management Accountant should have:
* Must be fully Qualified (CIMA, ACCA or ACA)
* Proven experience within a manufacturing or cost accounting environment is preferred
* Previous business partnering experience
* Strong understanding of standard costing and production analysis
* Experience with ERP systems (SAP or Microsoft Dynamics preferred)
* Working knowledge of IFRS/IAS
* Advanced Excel skills with strong financial modelling capability
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders
