Knowledge, skills, and personal qualities:
* BTEC, HNC/HND or Honours Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent
* Knowledge of electrical design CAD packages - EPLAN would be advantageous
* Able to provide advice on RN procedures and documentation for installation and trials
* Good knowledge of appropriate drawing and defence standards
* Good understanding of Design Assurance as defined in electrical/electronic design processes
* Knowledge of design for EMC and electrical safety
* Assessing products and applying applicable CE marking directives and harmonised standards, product assessment to standards, and compilation of all evidence and documentation required for the Technical Construction File
* Investigating and solving complex problems with sub-contractors, suppliers, and customers
* Maintain a design data pack, ensuring items can be reliably reproduced and will perform within the user requirement specifications
* Producing details of specifications and outline designs
* Recommending modifications based on prototype test results
* Knowledge of Health & Safety, Environment, and Quality policies and procedures
* Support to trials, including work on surface vessels and submarines
* Support to Test & Acceptance Department and Production where necessary
* Collaborate with other professionals within and outside the Mechatronics Department
* Good written and verbal communication skills and well-developed interpersonal skills
* Computer literate, experienced in the use of Microsoft Office products
