Base Metals Trader / Portfolio Manager

Job Description
The Base Metals Trader will be responsible for developing and executing trading strategies across the base metals complex. The successful candidate will manage an independent risk-taking book, applying disciplined portfolio management and robust risk control. This role offers the opportunity to operate within a high-performing multi-strategy investment platform with strong infrastructure support.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement trading strategies in base metals across LME, CME, and OTC markets.
* Manage daily portfolio risk, exposure, and capital allocation, ensuring alignment with firm guidelines.
* Conduct in-depth market research, identifying opportunities driven by supply-demand fundamentals, macroeconomic trends, and relative value dislocations.
* Engage in hands-on trading and execution, optimising trade implementation and efficiency.
* Collaborate with research, risk, and operations teams to enhance strategy scalability and performance.
* Maintain a disciplined approach to PnL attribution, drawdown control, and trade documentation.
Skillset & Experience Requirements
* Minimum 5 years of experience trading base metals futures and derivatives.
* Demonstrated track record of $5M+ annual PnL with strong risk-adjusted returns.
* Deep understanding of LME market structure, spreads, warehousing, and logistics dynamics.
* Strong analytical and quantitative skills; proficiency in data analysis and modelling tools preferred.
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
* Excellent communication, attention to detail, and ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
