Accounts Assistant Practice Location: Darlington, County Durham Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Salary: £30,000-£36,000 (dependent on experience) About the Firm A well-established and respected firm of Chartered Accountants and Chartered Tax Advisors in Darlington is seeking an Accounts Assistant to join its growing team. The Role As an Accounts Assistant, you will be responsible for preparing statutory and management accounts, supporting clients from sole traders to limited companies. Youll work closely with colleagues and clients to ensure financial records are accurate, compliant, and insightful. Key Responsibilities Prepare year-end accounts and corporation tax computations Produce monthly or quarterly management accounts for various clients Assist with VAT returns and bookkeeping duties Liaise with clients and provide clear, helpful advice Support junior colleagues and collaborate within a team setting Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and reporting standards Occasional visits to client premises may be required Requirements AAT Level 4 qualified or equivalent practical experience Minimum of 2 years experience in an accountancy practice (essential) Strong working knowledge of Excel; experience with software such as Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks preferred Excellent communication skills and attention to detail Able to work independently as well as part of a team Working Hours Monday to Thursday: 8:30am 5:00pm Friday: 8:30am 4:00pm Flexibility available for the right candidate Benefits Competitive salary with regular reviews Performance-related bonus (twice yearly) 24 days' annual leave bank holidays Additional 2-day office closure over Christmas Summer social event and early finish
