Responsibilities
* Provide expert administrative support and guidance across community safety functions.
* Manage and improve processes linked to safeguarding, road safety and multi‑agency work.
* Respond to queries and advise staff in line with policy and best practice.
* Support and attend community safety events and initiatives.
* Maintain accurate records and data to support service delivery.
* Build strong relationships with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders.
* Use data and insights to help improve services.
* Contribute to continuous improvement and inclusive, customer‑focused practices.
A proactive, organised individual with strong communication skills and a commitment to community safety. You will be comfortable working collaboratively, managing varied tasks and handling sensitive information with professionalism.
Qualifications
1. Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) to enable effective engagement at all levels of the Service, including Senior Management.
2. Experience of working in a busy office environment where priorities can change and demonstrates the ability to remain calm under pressure.
3. Experience of taking minutes or note‑taking during meetings.
4. Experience of working with and advising on policies and procedures.
5. Sound knowledge of and commitment to safeguarding, education, children, and young people.
6. Ability to generate new ideas and demonstrate a methodical approach to implementing and reviewing them.
Position Details
We are looking for a Community Support Officer to join our Community Safety team at our Service Headquarters in Exeter. This is a full‑time position (37 hours per week) that is currently available on a 24‑month Fixed Term Contract and offers a competitive salary starting at £29,540 (gross) per annum.
The successful candidate must, by the commencement of employment, have the right to work in the UK.
