Grade UE08: £50,253 to £61,759 per annum.
Information Services Group/Information Security Directorate/Cyber Security Operations – University of Edinburgh.
Full‑time 35 hours per week, open‑ended (permanent). Hybrid working is considered on a non‑contractual basis, combining remote and on‑campus duty.
Responsibilities
* Identify, mitigate and investigate suspicious cyber activity to protect the University’s digital estate.
* Work within a small team of cybersecurity specialists to safeguard core teaching, learning and research digital services.
* Gather, understand, interpret and analyse multiple data sources to provide concise, actionable solutions to cyber problems.
Qualifications and Skills
* Extensive technical experience from a similar role.
* Detailed understanding of tactics, techniques and procedures deployed by malicious threat actors.
* Technical skills in Windows/Unix/Linux system administration, intrusion detection/prevention technologies and security information and event management (SIEM) tools.
* A passion to develop within a team providing key technical cyber security support to colleagues undertaking world‑class teaching, learning and research.
* Desire to thrive in a challenging environment, working to tight deadlines.
