Applications are invited to provide timely and high‑quality technical support to teaching in the School of Life Sciences. The role holder will support the operation and management of undergraduate teaching sessions within the School’s laboratory facilities, ensuring work is consistently completed to a high standard. They will also support academic staff with the preparation and testing of materials and equipment necessary for all classes, in particular pharmacological methods such as organ baths and isolated tissues.
Responsibilities:
* Provide technical support to teaching sessions within the School’s laboratory facilities.
* Assist with the preparation and testing of materials and equipment for classes, with an emphasis on pharmacological methods.
* Carry out risk assessments on all activities before testing methods and procedures.
* Maintain a good understanding of health and safety.
Qualifications and Requirements:
* Previous experience in a technical or scientific role, particularly in biochemical assays, tissue culture and biomedical techniques.
* Excellent organisational skills and the ability to plan, prioritise and manage a full workload.
* Problem‑solving skills.
* Ability to lift and move objects, as the role involves storing and moving consumables and equipment regularly.
The post is offered on a permanent, full‑time contract (36.25 hours per week). Job share arrangements may be considered.
