Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, forward‑thinking consultant with expertise in the comprehensive management of prostate cancer, from diagnosis to robotic prostatectomy.
Responsibilities
* Provide minimally invasive robotic surgery, working with colleagues to develop expertise in robotic prostatectomy.
* Develop and deliver the pathway for prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment, in partnership with prostate cancer specialist nurses and nurse consultants.
* Communicate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Contribute to increasing the department's national profile through publications and presentations at international meetings.
* Participate in a Consultant of the Week rota on a 1:9 basis, supported by a 24‑hour middle grade tier and a Hospital at Night Team.

Qualifications (Essential)
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
* Higher professional training in urology
Experience (Essential)
* Current entry on the GMC specialist register via CCT or CESR (or anticipated entry within 6 months)
* Skilled in the delivery of robotic surgery
* Ability to perform trans‑perineal fusion prostate biopsy
* Demonstrable skills and experience in general urology
* Understanding of clinical risk management
