TEXO Recruitment are currently looking for a Electrician for one of our external clients in Hartlepool. The Electrician, will be part of a problem solving engineering team responsible for the preventative maintenance, inspection, fault diagnosis and responding to breakdowns and equipment failures, applying structured fault-finding and problem-solving techniques to restore plant and machinery to full operation with minimal downtime.
Responsibilities
* Carry out preventative maintenance, inspections, fault-finding, and repairs on port cranes and mobile plant equipment
* Respond promptly to breakdowns and equipment failures to minimise operational downtime
* Diagnose faults using structured problem-solving and troubleshooting techniques
* Restore defective equipment to full working order safely and efficiently
* Maintain harbour mobile cranes and other mobile plant used in a busy dock environment
* Work with PLC-controlled systems and AC/DC drive systems where applicable
* Perform safe isolation procedures before any maintenance or repair work
* Inspect and service electromechanical components such as solenoids, actuators, and thrusters
* Work on AC and DC motors and drivetrains up to 400kW
* Maintain and troubleshoot power electronics including inverters, rectifiers and related systems
* Service and repair motor control systems including VSDs, soft starters, DOL starters, resistance banks, and thyristor controls
* Diagnose and repair switching and control devices such as relays, contactors, breakers, and proximity sensors
* Maintain mobile plant electrical systems including 12V/24V systems and CANbus networks
* Support maintenance of ancillary systems such as building electrics and lighting towers/masts
Requirements
* Minimum 5 years' experience in heavy industry following completion of a recognised technical apprenticeship (essential)
* Qualified to ONC / Level 3 (or equivalent) as a minimum; HNC/HND/NVQ
* AC and DC electric motors and drivetrains up to 400kW
* Power electronics, including inverters and rectifiers
* Motor control systems such as soft starters, direct-on-line starting, variable speed drives, resistance banks, and thyristor-based controls
* Switching and control devices including relays, contactors, circuit breakers, and proximity sensors.
* Experience with mobile plant electrical systems, including: 12V / 24V DC systems & CANbus communication systems
* knowledge of: Building electrical systems & lighting towers and lighting mast systems
* Strong attention to detail and effective interpersonal skills (essential)
