Title: Fitter for cruise vessel Expedition

Responsibilities
* Performs major and specialised mechanical overhaul and repair work to determine the need for further repairs or adjustments.
* Repairs and maintains hydraulic equipment and valves.
* Prevents spares and tools from being damaged due to poor handling.
* Provides installation and breakdown services.
* Be part of the technical loading team during intake of provisions.
* Provide technical assistance during the ship’s tendering operations.
* Assists with general maintenance including:
o Cleaning
o Painting
o Repairs
* Keeps Chief Engineer, Staff Engineer and duty Engineer promptly and fully informed of all problems, matters of significance and any issues that may compromise the ship’s safety or deficiencies in machinery or equipment.
* Competent in using internal communications systems and aware of engine room alarms.
* Inform the on-duty Engineer whenever leaving the engine room to perform duties elsewhere.
* Keep supervisors fully informed of progress and any defects or problems in their area of responsibility.
* Keep the engine room and all machinery areas, parts and tools clean.
* Ensure compliance with Company, Public Health, National and International standards; report any non-compliance to the Staff Engineer.
* Observe uniform and grooming standards according to Company policies.
* Keep other team members informed of occurrences during the watch.
* Practice good people management and maintain proper conduct within the Engine department and other ship departments.
* Perform general engine room duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
* Valid STCW 95 certification.
* Valid ASE Certification A-III/5.
* Good knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, operation and maintenance of vessel machinery and mechanical equipment.
* Experience with stripping engines down and rebuilding.
* Experience on vessels in an equivalent position.
* Physically and medically fit.
* Moral integrity is required.
Language and Communication
Language requirements: Excellent fluent English (verbal, written and technical). English is the working and safety language on board. This also includes the ability to give and receive instructions in verbal and written forms and to effectively engage with guests and crew members. Additional languages are considered beneficial.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Required to stand, walk long distances, reach and sit. Repetitive motion of bending, going up and down stairs, climbing ladders. Lifting or pushing up to 50 lbs. Overtime work and irregular schedules. Works in the Engine Control Room and engine spaces with noise and distractions.
