An exciting opportunity has arisen for a hardworking, caring and compassionate individual to work as part of the Radiotherapy Team for Swansea Bay University Health Board.
The Band 4 Radiotherapy Treatment co-ordinator will provide a vital role in supporting patients undergoing radiotherapy treatment.
The South West Wales Cancer Centre (SWWCC) delivers a service to all patients across South West Wales and covers two large health boards, Swansea Bay and Hywel Dda.
It will involve supporting aspects of care delivery, patient pathway co-ordination, assessing the needs of patients and carers and providing information.
As an extended member of the radiotherapy team, the role will support effective communication between patients, their families and carers.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate excellent communication skills, be motivated and able to work in a team and use own initiative.
Main duties of the job
Under the guidance and supervision of a registered practitioner the Radiotherapy Treatment Co-ordinator will facilitate and support
coordinating and supporting the work of the Radiotherapy team and providing a point of contact for patients and professionals and will:
• Work collaboratively with 3rd sector (Maggies, Macmillan) to ensure full support of patients.
• Undertake a range of delegated duties assigned by a registered practitioner and is able to prioritise duties.
• Communication and coordination of Radiotherapy Treatment care delivery
• Carry out clerical duties to support the work of the radiotherapy Team
• Provide information and education
• Demonstrate self-directed learning, actively seeking out development opportunities to enhance practice, knowledge and role
progression
• Develop knowledge of the relevant tumour site, the treatment of the tumour and the resources available to patients and carers
• Demonstrate an awareness of the limits of own practice and knowledge and when to seek appropriate support/advice.
