Group finance manager

Job Description

Mobile Homes Abroad Limited: Caravans in the Sun, is looking to recruit a motivated and customer-focused Group Finance Manager to join our small, family-owned group of companies, based in Eccleshall, Staffordshire.

This is a hands-on role, suitable for a loyal, dedicated and competent finance professional with strong practical experience in both developing and applying management accounting practices. The role will also involve overseeing general and nominal ledgers, daily cash flow management and funds forecasting.

You will provide a solid foundation as the in-house finance expert within our finance and accounting function. This position currently has no direct reports and will be responsible for providing real-time financial reporting and monthly variance analysis, comparing actual performance against financial projections across all management accounting areas within the group as we continue to pursue our profitable growth ambitions.

Although based in the UK, we also have operations in Spain and Italy that require standalone financial reporting. As a result, occasional travel to these locations may be required during the initial implementation stages while consistent and uniform financial processes are established. We do not anticipate this being an ongoing requirement.

The objective is to create standardised processes across all locations, enabling inter-company performance to be measured through a consolidated monthly financial reporting framework.

This role would suit an autonomous, proactive and experienced finance or accounting professional who is willing to roll up their sleeves and get things done. We are not seeking a newly qualified accountant. Practical accounting experience is essential.

As the role develops, there is potential for the successful candidate to join the Executive Board once they have demonstrated their capabilities and made a significant contribution to the business.

Key responsibilities

• Providing real-time financial reporting across the group
• Preparing monthly management accounts and variance analysis
• Comparing actual performance against financial projections
• Overseeing general ledger and nominal ledger activity
• Managing daily cash flow reporting and funds forecasting
• Developing and applying consistent management accounting practices
• Supporting standalone financial reporting for Spain and Italy
• Helping establish uniform financial processes across all locations
• Supporting consolidated monthly group reporting
• Providing financial insight to support profitable growth

The ideal candidate

The successful candidate will be:

• Experienced in practical finance, accounting or management accounting
• Confident working autonomously in a hands-on role
• Competent in ledger management, cash flow, forecasting and reporting
• Able to develop and apply consistent financial processes
• Comfortable working across a small group of companies
• Proactive, reliable and commercially aware
• Willing to take ownership and get involved where needed
• Based within a commutable distance of Eccleshall, Staffordshire

Formal accountancy qualifications may be beneficial, but practical experience is essential.
