Job Description
The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with Medical Providers and/or Medical Assistants to perform examinations and administer ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. The role includes performing and analyzing patient X-rays, reporting results to Providers, and maintaining documentation and equipment quality control; it may also involve supporting clinic operations and patient care management.
Job Requirements
* Education
o Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program required
o High School Diploma or equivalent required
* Work Experience
o Experience in a clinical setting preferred
* Required Licenses/Certifications
o Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire (ARC or AHA)
o ARRT registration required
o Applicable state licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required
Essential Functions
* Provide x-ray services as needed, under the direction of the clinical provider
* Position patients and protect during imaging; assist in diagnosing or treating patients from newborn to elderly
* Ensure proper patient positioning and safety
* Assist with moving patients, including pushing a patient in a wheelchair when needed
Patient Preparation and Rooming
* Inform technical staff of patient flow and prepare patients for examinations
* Conduct interviews to verify information and record medical history; confirm purpose of visit
* Perform basic vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, weight, temperature) and escalate critical cases as needed
* Conduct point-of-care testing as needed and relay results to providers
Administrative
* Maintain medical records and scan charts into patient files
* Conduct courtesy follow-up calls and perform daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain QA/QC logs and submit repair tickets as needed
Other Responsibilities
* Medical Team Support: Collaborate to determine procedures/views for accurate diagnoses
* Patient Care: Explain procedures, ensure comfort and safety, answer questions
* Image Production: Adjust radiographic controls for high-quality images
* Equipment Maintenance and Radiation Safety: Perform routine maintenance and adhere to ALARA
* Documentation and Image Management: Maintain records and ensure images are available for radiologists
Knowledge & Skills
* Knowledge of X-ray procedures, anatomy and physiology relevant to imaging
* Knowledge of radiology equipment and safety hazards
* Ability to position patients correctly and identify equipment issues
* Adherence to infection control and radiological safety procedures
