Required to start ASAP

You will join a dedicated Achievement Support Department providing support to students with a range of learning, behavioural, emotional or other special educational needs. You will be part of a strong team of professional education support staff making a vital contribution to the success of the School. You will be expected to work flexibly and sensitively with groups and individuals.

We wish to appoint colleagues who:

* enjoy working with a wide range of young people and adults in a busy learning environment
* have excellent organisational skills and are reliable, efficient, flexible and adaptable
* have strong literacy, numeracy and ICT skills
* have excellent inter-personal skills and can use their initiative when necessary

* want to make a real contribution to the life of this School

Applicants must have a good working knowledge of the whole suite of Microsoft Office software and be comfortable using Word and Excel extensively. We use SIMS as our main management information software and whilst familiarity with this software is not essential, the successful candidate must be able to learn quickly as they will use this central source of management information daily.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and young people and expect all staff to show this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to complete Disclosure and Barring Service declarations in line with Section 115 of the Police Act 1997. All applicants are required to read the Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy incorporating Self-Harm and Online Safety, which can be found here.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and the successful applicant will be required to apply for an enhanced DBS certificate. As the post involves regulated activity with children, it is a criminal offence to apply if you are on the children’s barred list held by the DBS.

Amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975 (2013 & 2020) provide that certain spent convictions and cautions are “protected”. These are not subject to disclosure to employers and cannot be taken into account. Guidance on filtering of these cautions and convictions can be found on the Ministry of Justice website or see here.

Shortlisted candidates will need to provide details of all unspent convictions and those not filtered before the interview. Further information about criminal history may be requested during recruitment. If successful, this self-disclosure will be checked against DBS information before confirmation of appointment.

Please note: Only applications on the standard Sheffield LA application form will be accepted. CVs will not be considered.
