Staff Nurse - Discharge Lounge at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and forward-thinking nurse to join the expanding Discharge Lounge team at Frimley Park Hospital.
The Discharge Lounge supports patient flow and hospital capacity, ensuring patients are safely and efficiently transferred when they are ready to leave the ward. You will work both independently and with the wider multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality, safe, and compassionate care throughout the discharge process. We welcome applications from newly qualified nurses with a comprehensive preceptorship programme, mentoring, and ongoing development to help you thrive in the role.
Responsibilities
* Promote the use of the Discharge Lounge by identifying suitable patients and supporting ward staff to utilise the service.
* Ensure that every patient’s needs are met during the discharge transition.
* Apply excellent communication, clinical judgment, and organisational skills; take a proactive approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
* Deliver high quality patient care to patients and relatives; communicate effectively with patients and relatives.
* Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to new ideas; work well as part of a team or using own initiative to build working relationships.
Main duties
As a Staff Nurse in the Discharge Lounge, you will:
* Deliver high quality care and ensure patient safety throughout the discharge process.
* Assess, monitor, and implement care; develop techniques and skills as required.
* Demonstrate knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Current UK NMC registration
* Evidence of recent continuous professional development
* Recent experience within an acute NHS healthcare setting
Desirable criteria
* Educated to Nursing Degree level or working towards degree pathway
Skills & Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
* Effective time management, prioritisation and delegation skills
* Awareness of current professional nursing issues
* Evidence of Band 5 generic clinical competencies
* IT skills: MS Office, Windows, Outlook, and experience with clinical patient information systems
* Able to prioritise workload and manage a specific clinical area
