Academy community pioneer

Manchester
Co-op Academies Trust
Posted: 22 September
Offer description

Trust wide dependent on the academies location

Do you want to make a difference for people living in your community?

We are looking for Academy Community Pioneers to work 1 day a week in our academies.

The academy pioneers will help to bring our community strategy to life by identifying the needs of the community and supporting these being met, with a particular focus on family support and youth work. An important aspect of the work will be forming relationships with existing community groups and building relationships between these groups and the academy.

You will need to live in or very close to the community served by the academy you are working with. Where two or more academies serve the same or neighbouring communities, there may be an opportunity for the same individual to undertake more than one role.

The pioneers will be supported by a regional community manager covering a group of schools. The day/hours to be worked can be flexible depending on individual circumstances. Our Academy Locations:

The following posts are still available:

1. Co-op Academy Rathbone, Liverpool

Please contact elizabeth.garrity@coopacademies.co.uk, Head of Community Development, for more information.

All our values are based upon the values of the Co-op Group, which will inform our behaviours.

* Self-help: We do not expect to be spoon fed – we will try to do things for ourselves in the right way and at the right time.
* Self-responsibility: Everyone should act responsibly around the academy site and in the local community. We take responsibility for our own learning; we want to become independent learners.
* Equality: We are proud to be part of a multicultural academy, with students from all over the world; it is important to treat each other with respect and accept that others may be different from ourselves. Everyone should have equal chances to succeed.
* Equity: We look for the best in each other. Rewarding others fairly to encourage all types of achievement.
* Democracy: We contribute ideas to make the academy a success.
* Solidarity: We achieve more by working together, rather than as individuals.

Our Values:

Being part of the Co-operative Group, we are guided by our ethical values, which are embedded in everything we do within our Academy. We strive to demonstrate the following 'Ways of Being':

* Succeed together
* Do what matters most
* Be yourself, always
* Show you care

If you believe in our values, we would love to hear from you!

We offer a wide range of benefits and rewards to recognise your contribution:

* A Co-op colleague discount card offering 10% off in Co-op Food stores
* Flexible benefits including discounted line rental, broadband, family care advice, and cycle to work schemes
* Discounted gym memberships and leisure activities, including Merlin Entertainments (Sea Life, Legoland), Virgin Experience Days, SuperBreak, and more
* Co-operative Credit Union: save directly from your salary, with competitive dividends and interest rates
* Co-op Funeralcare benefit
* Season ticket and rental deposit loans
