THE OPPORTUNITY Urban Consultancy is a specialist infrastructure and CGI-enabled urban infrastructure planning consultancy with a project portfolio across the UK, Australia and other jurisdictions. Due to sustained high activity levels and project commitments, we are seeking a senior Commercial Manager to run our UK operational and commercial processes. This is a high-impact, professional role designed for doers who thrive in structured, high-stakes environments, including being in-room to support commercial conversations. You will serve as the country commercial anchor for the visionary CEO, ensuring that every project is delivered with absolute contractual rigour and optimised outcomes. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Commercial Negotiation & Tier 1 Liaison: Act as the primary commercial point of contact for Tier 1 contractors and Joint Ventures. You will support all contract negotiations, manage variations, and administer all processes with high rigour and add value and insights to opportunity and deal management. Operational Governance & Reporting: Own the end-to-end business administration, including the preparation of agendas, minutes, and complex customer performance reports. You will ensure 100% accuracy and professional standards in all business documentation. AU-UK Compliance Management: Provide and deliver the support required to manage the commercial reality of an international business. You will add value and insight to utilise specialist advisors and maintain a robust audit trail for compliance. Deal Architecture: Support the sales and business development teams by engineering commercially defensible deal structures. You will translate conceptual deliverables into iron-clad contracts with defined milestones and risk mitigations. Operational Efficiency: Proactively identify revenue leakage and implement systems to maximise profit. You will manage the commercial backend as a high-performance, cost-neutral machine. Delivery Support: Ensure deliverables and production are structured and documented to defend and demonstrate RoI and invoicing. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Professional Tenure: Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial or business management within the infrastructure, engineering, or high-end consultancy sectors. Tier 1 Expertise: Proven track record of managing high-value contracts and variations with major agencies and Tier 1 contractors. Australian-UK Experience : Experience working between these jurisdictions in relation to tax and consulting. Analytical Rigour: Exceptional attention to detail and a disciplined approach to business systems, financial reporting, and documentation. An excel, documentation and filing genius. Tactical Strategic Agility: The ability to move between high-level commercial strategy and hands-on administrative excellence with poise and authority.
