The opportunity
Expanded Structures is the specialist reinforced concrete basement, substructure, and superstructure division of Laing O'Rourke. We are currently recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team on the Stansted project located at the airport.
The project involves enhancing airport infrastructure by constructing the northern extension to the existing Stansted Airport Terminal, providing additional space for holidaymakers before heading to the gates.
What will the Senior Quantity Surveyor role look like?
* Perform all senior quantity surveying duties including measurement, valuation, and agreement of work sections.
* Manage PCSA and main works responsibilities.
* Prepare and manage interim applications for payment and agree certifications.
* Draft, manage, and settle subcontracts.
* Manage and report on monthly costs.
* Draft and prepare claims.
* Prepare and agree on final accounts.
* Manage daily activities of trainees, assistant QS, and/or QS.
* Negotiate with client representatives, sub-contractors, and other consultants to achieve project results while maintaining positive relationships.
* Advise project management on contractual implications of planned actions.
* Assess and advise on commercial risks within the project(s).
* Prepare and manage monthly contract review reports, weekly Business Plan Review (BPR) information, monthly management accounts, and provide contractual and commercial input into the Project Business Plan.
* Assist in establishing the project 'budget to build' from contract award.
* Identify and agree on change processes and implement change control.
* Ensure proper execution of contract documents before project start.
* Communicate clearly and confidently to a professional standard.
* Keep your manager fully informed of any issues or risks that could affect the project or business.
What skills & experience are we looking for?
* Structural design experience.
* Knowledge of NEC contracts.
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management.
* Desire to learn about risk and opportunity processes, both internally and with clients.
* Drive to learn and progress to the next career grade.
