Summary
The Photography Technician’s main responsibility is to provide support to teachers in the Photography Department and liaise with the Head of Department to ensure the efficient running of the School’s day-to-day timetabled lessons, extra-curricular activities, and enrichment workshops.

The Photography Technician’s main responsibilities include supporting teachers, managing equipment, and ensuring a safe, organized environment for all photography activities.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Maintaining an inventory of equipment and materials, and placing orders as needed.
2. Organizing resources for lessons and activities.
3. Preparing Health and Safety reports, risk assessments, and material safety data sheets (MSDS, COSHH).
4. Preparing materials and equipment in advance of lessons.
5. Maintaining a safe environment by addressing the ongoing and emerging needs of the Photography Department.
6. Performing general administration tasks as directed by the Subject Leader.
7. Mounting and displaying Photography work for exhibitions.
8. Organizing routine maintenance of equipment and machinery.
9. Supporting the planning and delivery of extended opportunities such as promotional materials, competitions, workshops, and trips.
10. Ensuring the Photography Department remains clean, tidy, and free from clutter.
11. Undertaking development and training as agreed with the Head of Department.
12. Keeping up-to-date with developments relevant to photography.
13. Liaising with internal support departments like Facilities and Housekeeping to facilitate communication and support.
14. Attending all Focus Days (6 per year).
15. Assisting with invigilation and equipment needs on examination days.
16. Performing any other duties reasonably requested by the Head of Department.
Person Specification
* Higher Level qualifications in photography or related creative subjects at A Level or beyond.
* A desire to work with young people.
* Excellent organizational skills and ability to follow directions.
* Team player with flexibility in daily tasks.
* Experience in setting up exhibitions, including window mounting.
* Darkroom experience and knowledge of traditional techniques.
* Confidence in leading a Photography Club.
