O’Neill & Brennan have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Design Manager to join a UK-leading regional main contractor. Due to multiple project wins in the Midlands, they are expanding their impressive Pre Con Team.

Key Deliverables
1. Provide technical advice on proposal documents, presentations, and meetings.
2. Conduct audits and technical reviews of tender information, subcontractor proposals, and company proposals, including secondary projects overseen by the SDM.
3. Monitor and report compliance during adjudications.
4. Develop a detailed understanding of clients' ideas and expectations, translating technical jargon into clear concepts and detailed designs.
5. Prepare and develop employer requirements and robust contractor proposals.
6. Identify and evaluate design risks to ensure ease of buildability, reducing company risk and claims.
7. Identify scope gaps, mitigate risks, and develop value engineering and programme opportunities.
8. Review subcontractors' proposals to identify value engineering opportunities.
9. Produce detailed design programmes and delivery schedules.
10. Maintain consistency in design management processes, reviewing protocols, programmes, specifications, and scopes.
11. Contribute to commercial and contractual documentation, negotiations, and dispute resolution.
12. Ensure design delivery aligns with procurement strategy, project cost plan, and value engineering targets.
13. Manage change control processes and ensure compliance with design briefs.
14. Recommend and implement changes to project delivery plans, and develop new project management tools and processes.
15. Procure design services effectively.
16. Manage consultant and subcontractor teams to ensure work meets specifications.
17. Coordinate technical handover documentation, including H&S files, manuals, and user guides.
18. Continuously develop the design management team and personal skills through lessons learned activities, applying improvements to future projects.
19. Proactively seek business development opportunities via professional networks.
