Ward Manager - Critical Care

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Unit Manager in the friendly Critical Care team at the QEQM Hospital; they will be responsible for overseeing the high standards of care required for looking after the deteriorating/critically ill patients.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to provide professional leadership, advice and guidance for nursing practice within the unit and being a resource for all nursing staff.
They will also need to have expert clinical skills, great communication skills and clinical assessment skills. They will contribute to ensuring that the Nurses within the unit are developed to maximize their contribution to the achievement of the Trusts service goals and upholds and models the Trust values.

Person Specification
Experience
 * Minimum of five years acute care nursing.
 * Resolving user concerns effectively.
 * Expierience in working as an autonomous practitioner.
Skills
 * Expert clinical skills.
 * Standard setting and audit
 * Negotiating and influencing skills
 * Clinical assessment skills
Knowledge
 * Current health service priorities
 * Nursing agenda
 * Clinical governance agenda.
 * Best practice, key issues and developments in the deteriorating patient programme
 * Knowledge of quality improvement tools, ward metrics
Qualifications
 * Degree in nursing or working towards degree or equivalent
 * Preperation of mentors or equivalent
 * Post graduate level in Acute/Critical care management course.
Other
 * Upholds and models the Trust values
 * Current understanding of key facing the NHS both locally and Nationally
