Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations and you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office – Perth, Aberdeen or Inverness.
Salary: £50,100 - £62,000 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role
We are looking for a Technical Standards Engineer (Author) to support the Network Engineering team by providing technical authoring expertise and managing engineering documentation. The role will focus on maintaining high-quality specifications, supporting technical queries and ensuring documentation processes are followed effectively.
You will
* Support the Network Engineering team with technical authoring, including reviewing, updating and creating engineering specifications and technical documentation
* Assist Principal Engineers in managing technical queries, deviation requests and fault management, ensuring stakeholders receive accurate responses
* Maintain and manage the engineering specifications repository, ensuring documentation is current, controlled and accessible
* Update and manage workflow systems, trackers and management information, providing evidence of compliance and accurate reporting.
* Support engagement with industry bodies and professional services, including organisations such as the Energy Networks Association, CIGRE, British Standards Institution and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers
You have
* Proven experience as a Technical Author or in a role involving technical documentation draughting
* Strong understanding of document management processes, draughting standards and technical review procedures
* Ability to plan, organise and manage multiple document reviews and processes simultaneously
* Experience working with workflow systems, approvals processes and management information reporting
* Excellent communication and report-writing skills, with the ability to present clear conclusions and recommendations.
