An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, highly motivated assistant technical officer to join our friendly and dynamic team to provide high quality aseptic services. You will be part of an expanding team of highly professional and dedicated staff whose aim is to provide an excellent, patient‑focused service. The prime function of the unit is the preparation of cytotoxic, monoclonal antibodies and clinical trials in a safe and efficient manner according to Good Manufacturing Practice and National Standards. We must deliver the highest quality of services for our patients and are committed to ensuring safe and effective patient care.
This post is based in the historic City of Lancaster with good rail connections and close to the M6 motorway link.
Main Duties
* Prepare a range of aseptically prepared products using needles and syringes within a clean room environment and ensure they are sent to the correct ward. Clean‑room clothing must be worn; make‑up is not allowed.
* Assist the team in the preparation of products for patient administration.
* Methodically and accurately follow procedures, with a keen eye for detail.
* Maintain stock and consumable levels, ensuring proper stock rotation within designated areas in accordance with procedures.
* Perform general tidying and non‑domestic cleaning duties in the department as needed, ensuring the safe disposal of waste.
* Maintain awareness of COSHH (Control of substances hazardous to health) regulations for the storage, handling and disposal of pharmaceutical products.
* Previous aseptic experience is desirable, although full training will be provided.
* NVQ2 in Pharmacy Services is a requirement of the role.
Training and Qualifications
* Training role, including completion of ‛NVQ2 Pharmacy Services”, will be considered for applicants without this essential qualification.
* Training role is paid at 70% of a Band 3 in Year 1 and 75% in Year 2 (uplifted to the minimum living wage), then moving to a Band 3 upon completion of ‛NVQ2 Pharmacy Services”.
* Previous aseptic experience is desirable.
* Methodical, accurate, and procedural focus are required.
* Awareness of COSHH regulations is essential.
