Overview

This HR Operations Manager will report to the Head of HR Operations and will work within Human Resources, based in either our London, Crawley or Bury St Edmunds offices. This is a permanent position.


Responsibilities

* Oversee and continuously improve the delivery of the HR Advisory service to the business; manage a team of HR Advisors based across UKPN's footprint; ensure timely resolution of employment cases in line with policies, procedures and employment law.
* Demonstrate leadership in managing the Advisory team, guiding and supporting people-related concerns to successful outcomes, and fostering a collaborative and motivating work environment.
* Develop, implement and maintain legally compliant HR policies and procedures aligned with the UK Power Networks Vision and Values.
* Direct Reports: 13 HR Advisors; Budget Controlled: TBA; Financial Authority Limit: TBA.


Principal Accountabilities

* Resolve employment cases within established timescales and in accordance with Company policies and procedures, avoiding adverse outcomes.
* Deliver employee administration processes within established standards of accuracy and timescales, observing Company policies and procedures.
* Manage activity and performance of the HR Advisory Team Case Management.
* Analyse the nature and frequency of employment cases and advise line managers on how to avoid them.
* Oversee delivery by HR Advisors of training and coaching for line managers in managing employee issues to reduce formal employment cases.
* Analyse the accuracy and timeliness of HR Operations delivery to identify opportunities for improvement and implement them.
* Act as Technical Lead for new employment legislation provisions, implementing necessary policy/procedural changes and ensuring training and communication of changes are successfully delivered.


Nature and Scope

As the HR Operations Manager you will manage the activity of the HR Advisory Team, supporting and advising the business on how best to resolve people-related matters. The post holder must have technical expertise in case management, knowledge of employment law and compliance with policies and procedures related to Discipline, Performance Management, Absence Management and Grievance. You will communicate with employees at all levels, building relationships with stakeholders including the HR Senior Management Team, business leaders, colleagues within the wider HR team, trade union representatives and the Legal team. You will also support the Health and Wellbeing Manager in delivering Occupational Health and EAP provisions to ensure timely and quality advice on case management. This will require Account Management of specific elements of the Occupational Health contract and collaboration with the Occupational Lead Clinician on complex cases.

Essential

* CIPD qualified and/or employment law qualification
* Excellent knowledge of employment law and best practice in case management; knowledge of policies and procedures related to Discipline, Performance Management, Absence Management and Grievance is advantageous
* Ability and experience to analyse individual cases, assess risk and advise HR Advisors on how to proceed
* Experience producing service metrics and the ability to interpret them to influence senior business decisions on employment matters
* Experience analysing the accuracy and timeliness of HR advisory service delivery to identify opportunities for continuous improvement
* Ability to travel across the regional patch

Desirable

* Degree-qualified
* Experience in HR Systems (e.g., SAP)
* Experience leading a team of HR Advisors
* Experience working in a similar industry
